Responding to the refugee crisis

By Anna Carlson

The EBRD is bolstering economic resilience in Jordan and Turkey to help them cope with the refugee crisis. Investments, technical cooperation and policy dialogue in municipal services, small business and economic inclusion will have an immediate impact to support refugee-hosting regions.

The Bank has prepared a €900 million investment plan consisting of EBRD funds and donor contributions. At the same time, the Bank is forging ahead with the first steps to alleviate the refugee crisis.

The sharp increase in population has had an enormous impact which affects the lives of local communities and the overall economies of the two countries.
