Project description
The EBRD is considering providing a loan up EUR 250 million equivalent in Polish zloty for to fund the capex and research and development of the new VW greenfield plant in Białężyce, near Września, Poland, approx. 50km east of Poznań.
The plant will manufacture the Crafter, a light commercial vehicle, and consist of a body shop, a paint shop, an assembly line, a logistics centre, a supplier park and facilities for prototype production, quality assurance and auxiliary services with a combined output capacity of potentially 100,000 light commercial vehicles per year. It is planned to be the only Volkswagen Group plant to manufacture the Crafter which is sold in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa.
