Project Description

The proposed project consists of an investment in TBC Leasing shares and a senior loan to the Company to support the growth of its leasing operations.

Transition Impact

Significant transition impact is expected in the following areas:

  • support of the development of the embryonic Georgian leasing sector;
  • promoting increased financial intermediation; and
  • support of the Georgian SME sector development.

The Client

TBC Leasing, a specialised leasing subsidiary of TBC Bank established in 2003, is a leading leasing company in Georgia.

TBC Bank headquartered in Tbilisi is the largest by assets universal commercial bank in Georgia.

EBRD Finance

A senior loan of up to USD 3 million and investment to acquire TBC Leasing shares.

Project Cost

Approximately USD 3.1 million.

Environmental Impact

Screened FI.

TBC Leasing and its lessees will be required to comply with EBRD’s Environmental Procedures for Intermediated Finance for Leasing, including ensuring compliance with the applicable national environmental, health, safety and labour regulations and standards, adherence with EBRD’s Environmental Exclusion and Referral Lists and submission of annual environmental reports to the Bank. TBC Leasing shall nominate a member of the senior management responsible for implementation of the environmental procedures.
