Project Description
Proposed €30 million senior loan to Raiffeisenbank Austria d.d. (RBCR) based in Zagreb, Croatia. The facility would allow RBCR to extend its lending operations and to provide medium-term funding to local companies in Croatia. The project objectives are to extend RBCR’s lending operations and to provide medium-term funding to Croatian companies.
Transition Impact
The EBRD funding would stimulate growth within the private SME sector. As there is still a massive lack of medium-term financing available in the market, this facility will help to fill this gap.
The Client
RBCR is one of the best performing banks in Croatia. RBCR was established as the first foreign bank in Croatia on 12 December 1994. The bank has a full banking licence for domestic and cross-border operations. Besides headquarters in Zagreb, RBCR has a network of branch offices throughout Croatia.

Environmental Impact
RBCR will be required to adopt and implement EBRD’s Environmental Procedures for Local Banks, comply with the Bank’s Financial Intermediary environmental exclusion list and report annually to the EBRD on the environmental aspects of its activities. Sub-loans will be required to comply with national health, safety and environmental requirements.
