Project Description
The proposed project will include restructuring of South West Waste Water Treatment Plant financial arrangements.
Project objectives: To contribute to a long-term sustainable reduction of the pollution load to the Baltic Sea.
Transition Impact
The project involves public and private parties in the construction and operation of a waste-water treatment facility. It is the first time that this approach will be used in the Russia and its structuring and implementation is providing valuable experience for the participants, while highlighting relevant issues in the Russian legal framework.
The Client
St. Petersburg Vodokanal, a city water utility.
EBRD Finance
Senior loan of up to EUR 37.1 million.
Project Cost
Total project costs are EUR 107 million.
Environmental Impact
The Project is screened C/1. The restructuring of existing financing arrangements does not involve any environmental issues. The existing facilities, completed with the Bank’s existing loan, have started operation.
