Purpose of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessments
The Bank has equity investments in Garadagh Cement O.J.S.C. (the Company), together with Holcim the international cement group.
In line with existing environmental and social action plans, as agreed with the Bank, the Company plans to decommission the existing wet kilns and replace them with state-of-the-art dry cement technology. The Project will include the construction of a new state-of-the-art dry kiln (number 6), which will replace the wet lines.
The new plant has been designed to meet Azeri and European Union Environmental Standards.
The Bank will consider providing additional financing for the new kiln number 6.
