Purpose of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessments
The EBRD approved a senior loan to Acwa Güç Elektrik Işletme ve Yönetim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (“Acwa Guc” or the “Company”) for the development of a Greenfield 800MW independent power plant (the “Project”) to be structured on a merchant basis and located 50km east of Ankara, near the city of Kirikkale, Turkey.
In 2014, due to changes to the Project structure and to design, a new site was identified and located 1 km from the original site. The updated designs are for a 928MW CCGT, using the same technology. Due to the change in design and location a new ESIA has been developed.
The new plants is a state -of-the-art large CCGT gas fired power plant fully complying with best international practice, National legislation as well as EU environemntal standards.
