Purpose of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessments
The EBRD is considering providing financing to JSC Inter RAO UES, a diversified energy holding Company, for the replacement of outdated coal-fired capacity with a new high-efficiency 445.6 MWe Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power unit at Verkhnetagilskaya GRES in the Urals region.
The financing will enable the Borrower to build and operate a new state-of-the-art CCGT at an existing facility. The Project is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2015.The project represents a major step in upgrading existing generating assets in Russia to ensure that they meet improved energy efficiency and higher environmental performance.
The Bank also provided corporate finance to the Company in 2012.
