The EBRD is supporting the growing leasing market in Albania with a senior €1.5 million loan to one of the leading leasing companies in the country, Credins Leasing Sh.A.
The company will use the proceeds of this loan to boost its leasing funding to small and medium-sized businesses, focusing mainly on vehicles and equipment. Credins Leasing Sh.A. is one of the largest leasing companies in Albania with the highest number of objects financed.
Albanian leasing sector is still in its early stages of development, and demand is growing. EBRD financing will provide a boost not only to Credins Leasing, but to the sector as a whole.
The Bank also plans to provide technical assistance to Credins Leasing to help the company improve their credit approval framework and provide risk managing training to their credit officers.
The loan is being made under the Western Balkans and Croatia Financing Framework, a €250 million facility which supports micro, small and medium-sized businesses and insurance and leasing companies.
Since the beginning of its operations in Albania, the EBRD has invested about €700 million in the country, mobilising for the projects over €2 billion from other sources of investment.
