Sustainable Energy panel: fuelling the future
Wednesday 4 November: 14.00- 15.15
SEMED countries are beginning to exploit their vast renewable potential
Energy sectors across the SEMED region are changing rapidly as they work to ensure a reliable supply in the face of surging demand. These changes are both structural and physical. Above all SEMED countries are beginning to exploit their vast renewable potential at the same time as the industry is reaching the point where it can deliver such energy at a price that is competitive with conventional energy. The potential for a radical shift towards greater energy diversity and cleaner, more secure energy supply, is enormous. However such a development will require deep reforms to market structures and investment climates, along with a focus on demand side management and efficiency.
This panel will bring together leading figures from industry and government to discuss these opportunities and challenges as well as the lessons from similar developments in the region and elsewhere.
