The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), together with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), cordially invite you to a conference on Reassessing the Role of State-Owned Enterprises in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, which will take place on 21 June 2019, 11.00 BST at EBRD headquarters in London.

The conference will commence with a presentation of the IMF report with the same title, and provide an opportunity for participants to assess the role of the state in the economy – by focussing on state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and state-owned banks.

The presentation will be followed by a discussion on the issues raised in the report, with specific examples and insights on the practical experience through the EBRD’s work across our regions of operation. Event participants will include Peter Sanfey (EBRD, Head of EBRD Knowledge Management, Deputy Director Country Strategy), Peter Dohlman (IMF, Deputy Division Chief), Christine Richmond (IMF, Lead Economist) and Peter Tabak (EBRD, Region Lead Economist, Western Balkans).

An embargoed copy of the report will be made available on 18 June 2019.

There will be opportunities for interviews with the panellists after the event. If you are interested, please respond to this email confirming the name of the interviewee you wish to speak to. Please note that we will be allocating the limited slots on a first come, first served basis.
