The EBRD is holding a public consultation on its methodology to determine the Paris Agreement alignment of directly financed EBRD investments.
The methodology sets out how the EBRD will determine whether directly financed projects the Bank may invest in are “aligned” or “non-aligned” with the mitigation and adaptation goals of the Paris Agreement.
In the context of the public consultation the EBRD will host a webinar open to all stakeholders to explain the Bank’s approach.
Richard Jones, Director of Climate Ambition and Strategy will introduce the event and provide an overview of the Bank’s approach to Paris alignment.
Carel Cronenberg, Associate Director, Green Economy and Climate Action will then provide an overview of the methodology, explaining its use in the Banks project cycle.
In the course of the webinar, participants will be invited to ask questions and discuss the content of the presentations.
The language of the webinar will be English.
The consultation on EBRDs “methodology to determine the Paris Agreement alignment of directly financed EBRD investments” is open between 1 June 2021 and 16 July 2021. EBRD invites comments which should be sent to the email address ParisAgreement@EBRD.com
The scope of the methodology for public consultation is EBRD’s direct finance investments, covering projects that involve specific capital expenditure. Following the public consultation, the feedback received will be taken into account for the issuance of an updated publicly available version of the methodology which will also include sector specific Paris alignment determination guidance. In addition, the approach for other types of finance will be added to the methodology in early 2022.
