The EBRD is releasing revised drafts of its good governance policies - ESP, PIP, and PCM – at the end of January 2019 and we’re holding public consultations in eight cities to seek your feedback.
The Environment and Social Policy guides the EBRD’s commitment to promoting “environmentally sound and sustainable development” in the full range of its investment and technical cooperation activities.
The EBRD’s Public Information Policy (PIP) embodies the Bank’s commitment to enhance the transparency of its activities and promote good governance.
The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the EBRD’s accountability mechanism. It provides individuals and organisations with an opportunity to have their environmental, social and public disclosure concerns about Bank-financed projects reviewed and assessed, with an aim of resolving issues among project stakeholders and ensuring the Bank’s compliance with its environmental, social and public disclosure policies.
During 2018 we started reviewing and improving these three policies, taking into account the lessons learned from experience, changes in international practice and consultation with stakeholders -- including civil society organisations, industry associations, clients, and other international financial and non-financial institutions.
We will disclose the new draft policies at the end of January 2019 for phase two of this review process.
Tell us what you think and help shape our good governance policies by participating in a public consultation to be held in Almaty on February 11, Belgrade on February 28, Casablanca on February 26, Cairo on February 21, Istanbul on February 13, Kiev on February 5, London on March 5, Tbilisi on February 7.
The consultation event will be divided into three sessions of two hours covering each of the three policies. Each session will include a brief presentation of the major changes to the policy followed by a public comment and discussion period.
