Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will deliver a speech at the China Development Forum in Beijing at 0830 (local time), Saturday 19 March.
In the speech he will look ahead to challenges facing Emerging Markets as they compete for global finance and he will outline the responses needed to ensure they remain or again become attractive destinations for investment capital. The President will explain why he remains optimistic about the outlook for emerging nations despite a number of risks.
Sir Suma will be speaking during a panel titled ‘The World Economy: the Way Forward’.
Prior to his arrival in Beijing, Sir Suma will hold meetings in Shanghai with potential Chinese business partners. In Beijing he will meet Chinese officials and officials from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
Representatives of the media will receive embargoed copies of Sir Suma’s speech ahead of delivery.
