Film, discussion and live music

Join HE Ambassador Masud Khalifazoda and members of the Tajik community in London for the EBRD's first cultural event devoted to the country.

We will be screening the well-received, short Tajik film “The Crying of Tanbur” (20 minutes, Tajik/Russian, English subtitles) - the true story of a family tragedy during the civil war in post-Soviet Tajikistan. Our guest for a brief discussion of the film will be its young director Anisa Sabiri.  Ms. Sabiri won the “Best Director” award at the 3rd Annual “Imagine This Women’s Int’l. Film Festival”.

The screening and discussion will be followed by a Tajik musical concert by the group “Shams" - including a singer and five musicians.

We hope to see you at what promises to be an engaging and entertaining event. You’ll have a chance to speak with the ambassador, film director and musicians at a drinks reception for all afterwards.
This event is organised by the EBRD Cultural Programme and the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UK.

Doors will open for registration at 17.15 and coffee and tea will be served. The screening will begin promptly at 18.00, followed by a discussion and Q&A session, musical concert and drinks reception.

Please register by Thursday 21 March.
