EBRD Donors

Donor beneficiaries and impact

The EBRD:

  • invests in projects that have a meaningful transition impact and benefit the local economy
  • finances projects across many sectors, promoting the transition to a green economy, as well as addressing areas such as gender and inclusion, food security, the knowledge economy, job creation, and better public services
  • integrates policy reforms and technical advice with investment
  • maintains a dialogue with governments, authorities and representatives of civil society to promote its goals and also works closely with international organisations.

Financial intermediaries, entrepreneurs, governments and regulators, municipal service providers, private sector employees and ultimately citizens in the countries where the EBRD works are all beneficiaries of donor support. For example, they benefit from improved water and wastewater services, increased access to finance, job opportunities, upgraded key infrastructure and equal opportunities for women and men.

The EBRD and the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P), have provided the financial means and know-how for the acquisition of 143 new compressed-natural-gas buses in Tbilisi, Georgia.
