Managing Director, Environment and Sustainability
Dr Alistair Clark joined the EBRD in 2001 and is the Managing Director of the Environment and Sustainability Department.
The Department consists of approximately 40 environmental and social specialists who undertake environmental due diligence and monitoring of the projects in implementation.
Dr Clark's role includes ensuring that all investments are consistent with the Environmental Policy and Environmental Procedures of the EBRD. He is also responsible for providing strategic direction to the EBRD with respect to the implementation of the Bank’s environmental mandate and the incorporation of environmental and social aspects in all sector and country policies and strategies.
In addition, Dr Clark is a member of the UK Export Guarantee Advisory Council and Trustee of Television for the Environment, a UK registered charity specialising in environmental and social issues. He also actively contributes to the Multilateral Financial Institutions Working Group on Environmental and Social Standards and represents the Bank at many international agency meetings.
