The future of the economic transition

Abstract

This paper provides a schematic account of the transition so far, draw some lessons from the experience, identify challenges for the next phase and finally provide some speculations on prospects for the future. It is an extended version of a contribution to the Symposium in memory of Michael Bruno in November 1997 in Jerusalem.
