and objectives:

The proposed project consists of a senior loan to BTA ORIX Leasing, a leading
private leasing company in Kazakhstan. The EBRD financing will allow the
company to grow its leasing portfolio and reach more small and medium-sized
companies in Kazakhstan.

Transition impact:
|
The proposed project will support the involvement of a foreign investor active
in lease finance in Kazakhstan. The project has, therefore, a potential to
have a strong demonstration effect on other potential foreign investors
showing the possibility to invest and grow in a new market. The project will
also support small and medium sized companies operating in Kazakhstan.
Provision of the loan in Kazakh Tenge will assist in minimising the exchange
risk for clients with local currency income.

The client:

BTA ORIX Leasing was established in 2000 as a specialised leasing company. It
is currently co-owned by ORIX Corporation (Japan), ORIX Leasing Pakistan,
International Finance Corporation and Bank TuranAlem (Kazakhstan).

Senior loan of KZT 1.2 billion (EUR 7.4 million).

Environmental impact:
|
BTA ORIX Leasing will be required to adopt and implement EBRD's Environmental
Procedures for Leasing which includes adherence to the Bank's Environmental
Exclusion and Referral compliance with the applicable national environmental,
health and safetyLists, and labour requirements, and submission of an Annual
Environmental Report to the Bank.
