Project description and objectives:

Loan to finance completion of sunflower oil production, slaughterhouse and meat processing facilities in the Volgograd (southern Russia) region. The objectives of the project are to enable local production of high-quality processed food products (sunflower oil, meat) and animal feed, replacing the imports required to meet regional production shortfalls.

Transition impact:
|
The project will enable the Bank to play a catalytic role in transforming the Russian agricultural processing industry input by facilitating value-added local production and import substitution for key staple consumer products. The project will result in the direct employment of 500. Indirectly, the project will also encourage commercial development at primary production, wholesale and retail levels.

The client:

Athina-Volga J.S.C. (AV) is a company in the Volgograd region (southern Russia) currently producing animal feed and intending to start sunflower oil production, a slaughterhouse and meat processing. AV is a joint venture between the Greek Meton Etep Group and the Volgograd local authority.

A 7.5-year loan of US$ 20.1 million (ECU 16.1 million).

US$ 57.5 million (ECU 46.0 million).
