The Borrower is Georgia, on-lending to the City of Rustavi.

Project Implementer is the City of Rustavi, which will establish a new company for landfill management (the “Company”). The Company will own all assets required for operating the landfill.

Project description

The objective is to improve and expand solid waste management services in Rustavi and Gardabani with an integrated solid waste management programme comprising:

• Construction of a sanitary landfill;
• Supply of waste transportation vehicles and equipment to the Company;
• Closure of Gardabani landfill

Business purpose/Transition impact

Support to Georgia for the development of a landfill to serve Rustavi and Gardabani cities. The Project will also provide technical co-operation to assist with the preparation and implementation of the project and a corporate development programme to build operational and management capacity within the newly created landfill management company.
