Sava River Crossing [Project Summary Document]
EBRD lends Belgrade €70 million to build bridge [Press Release]

Project description
and objectives:

The City of Belgrade has requested the Bank to consider financing an initial stage of a new Inner City Ring Road including a new crossing of the Sava River. Belgrade has only two functional bridges connecting the older part of Belgrade (900,000 inhabitants) with New Belgrade and Zemun (400,000 inhabitants). Deteriorating accessibility, traffic congestion, noise and air pollution caused by insufficient river crossing capacity is one of the City’s most pressing problems.

The proposed Inner City Ring Road will be some 17km in length. The Project segment, which will form Stage 1, will be approximately 4km long, of which 3km will comprise a new bridge across the Sava River and associated approach roads on viaducts.
