The EBRD logo was created by Bret de Their, a designer from New Zealand, and symbolises the bringing together of the shareholder countries through the Bank’s activities. The EBRD began operations on 15 April 1991 with eight countries of operations.
Within a year the number had increased to more than 20 and today the EBRD invests in 29 countries in central, eastern and south-eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Mongolia, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine.
To date the EBRD has committed over €60 billion and mobilised financing of €115 billion for overall investments, with a total value of nearly €180 billion.
