As of January 2011 the value of joint Canada-EBRD investment stood at €3.6 billion, of which the EBRD’s portion was €2.5 billion and Canada’s was €1.1 billion. Adding in further investment from other countries and sources, the total value of projects with Canada-EBRD involvement was €10.5 billion. The majority of these deals were in the private sector.

Cooperation with Canadian banks

Donor funding
The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) has been a major contributor to the EBRD’s Technical Cooperation Funds and has contributed about €42 million. Canada’s support has largely been channelled through its own regional funds and through multilateral donor initiatives such as the Early Transition Countries Fund, the Russia Small Business Fund, the Balkan Region Special Fund and the European Western Balkans Joint Fund (EWBJF).

Donor funding helps the EBRD to address the challenges facing the transition countries.
