Donor support is vital to the EBRD's work in countries from central Europe to central Asia and, most recently, the southern and eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region. Donors’ resources and expertise allow the Bank to invest in sustainable projects that improve living conditions and economic opportunities.
In 2011 donors provided almost €454 million, the largest amount ever made available to the Bank in a single year. Together, the EBRD and donors are focusing on key areas including sustainable energy and climate change, reliable basic services such as water, roads and public transport, gender equality and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Donor contributions cover essential costs of projects that would be unaffordable for clients.
Donor funding directly benefits people across the EBRD's countries of operations.
Donors contribute to EBRD projects through bilateral and multilateral instruments.
