Environmental and social policy

The EBRD seeks to ensure that the projects it finances:

• are socially and environmentally sustainable
• respect the rights of affected workers and communities
• are designed and operated in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and good international practice

These objectives are formalised in our Environmental and Social Policy. 

Along with the Bank's public information policy and project complaint mechanism, the Environmental and Social Policy defines the Bank’s commitment to the principles of environmentally sound and sustainable development and good corporate citizenship.

The Environmental and Social Policy is implemented by our dedicated Environment & Sustainability team.
