The EBRD invites the public to give its views on our policies and strategies. New proposed institutional and operational policies as well as strategies for the countries of operations and sectors in which we invest are made available for public comment. The Bank's management reviews all public comments and advises the Board of Directors accordingly. The Bank takes this consultation into account in shaping its assessments and decisions on policies and strategies, alongside feedback by shareholder governments, clients and other interested parties, and draft policies and strategies may be amended accordingly.

Dialogue with CSOs in SEMED
The EBRD is currently working on its Country Assessments and Operational Priorities for the southern and eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region - documents which will guide the Bank's operations in the new region from 2012. During the process, apart from meeting representatives of government and the private sector, EBRD staff plans to engage further with local civil society stakeholders, including NGOs, bloggers, youth activists, academics and think-tanks.
In the context of drafting of the Country Assessments and Operational Priorities document for all four countries, EBRD is inviting interested CSOs to attend the meetings which are scheduled as follows:
The purpose of these meetings is to solicit the feedback from local CSOs on a draft Concept Note that will serve as a basis for the preparation of Country Assessments and Operational Priorities documents. The draft Concept Notes will be shared with CSOs in mid-May as a confidential internal working document. The CSO feedback will be summarised and, alongside input from government and business sector, considered by EBRD’s senior management in drafting the Country Assessments in June 2012, which will be discussed by the Board of Directors in July 2012.
The meetings will be structured around four key areas: 1) democracy, human rights and CSO operating environment; 2) macro-economic and business climate; 3) social and environmental issues; and 4) EBRD's operational priorities in the respective countries.
The EBRD will be represented by the Stakeholder Relations Department, the Banking Department and the Office of the Chief Economist.
If you are interested in attending the meetings, please contact Erica Genua at genuae@ebrd.com or via phone +44 207 338 8197. We would appreciate if you could forward this invitation to other CSO colleagues and networks which are relevant and interested in providing feedback to the EBRD.
