Termoelektrarna Šoštanj d.o.o. (”TES” or “Company”) has applied for a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to implement their modernisation programme, which involves the construction of a new coal fired 600 MW unit (“Unit 6” or “the Project”) at Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant..
The proposed project, which has the total estimated costs equivalent of EUR 1,100,000,000 will require, among others, the procurement of the following works and services:
• installation of the cooling water system including construction of the cooling tower;
• civil works for the main power facilities, other buildings and structure as well as preparatory works;
• installation of coal transport facilities;
• installation of facilities for disposal of ash, slag and gypsum
• installation of water preparation facilities;
• project management, engineering and consultancy services;
Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in 2009.
Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of the loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the Purchaser's country.
