GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE

This General Procurement Notice updates the original GPN which was published in Procurement Opportunities on 10 June 2008.

Republic of Armenia and the Armenian Water and Sewerage Company (the Company) have received a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and a grant from the EU Water Initiative in the total amount of EUR 12 million to finance the improvement of the wastewater infrastructure in the towns of Gavar, Martuni, Vardenis, Sevan and Jermuk.

The Armenian Water and Sewerage Company (the Company) intends to use the proceeds of the loan towards the cost of Lake Sevan Environmental Project. Tender for rehabilitation of wastewater network in five cities is nearly to be completed.

The project will require the procurement of design and construction works for wastewater treatment plants in cities of Gavar, Jermuk, Martuni, Sevan and Vardenis.

Tendering is expected to be in the second quarter of 2009.

Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the EBRD will be tendered in accordance with the EBRD’s Procurement Policies and Rules. The proceeds of the EBRD loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law or official regulation of the Purchaser’s country.
