This is an updated GPN, first published in October 2006.
Romania has received a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the “Bank”) and intends using the proceeds for a project for the support of the development of solid waste infrastructure in Bacau.
The City of Bacau will be the implementing agency. The proposed project, which is co-financed with ISPA, has a total estimated cost of EUR20m million equivalent for goods, works and consultancy services, proposed to be financed by the Bank, the City and ISPA, will require the procurement of the following goods, works and services:
Landfill modernisation, closure of localised landfills, supply of landfill-related infrastructure (civil works and supply contract) (ISPA)
Waste collection vehicles, containers and landfill equipment (supply contracts) (EBRD)
Engineering supervision and PIU support (consultancy) (ISPA)
Preparation of concessions and regulatory support (consultancy) (EBRD)
Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law or official regulation of the Purchaser's country.
