This General Procurement Notice (GPN) updates the GPN for this project published in Procurement Opportunities, on 16 May 2006.
The City of Kutaisi Water Company intends using the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the “Bank”) for a project to improve water delivery services in Kutaisi.
The proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of EURO 12.9 million, will require the procurement of goods, works and services for the following components:
• Rehabilitation of well fields and transmission pumping stations;
• Rehabilitation of reservoirs;
• Rehabilitation of the water supply network;
• Supply and install meters for households;
• Supply and install mechanical and electrical equipment for wellfields;
• Institutional development and implementation assistance for the Kutaisi Water Company and the City of Kutaisi.
Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in the second quarter 2008.
Millennium Challenge Georgia and the Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency are considering providing parallel capital investment grants for the project. The Bank’s multi-lateral Early Transition Countries Fund is expected to provide technical co-operation support.
Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, of for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the Purchaser's country.
