EBRD Directors visit Albania and FYR Macedonia
Consultation meetings in Tirana and Skopje
A delegation of the EBRD Board of Directors will be visiting Albania and FYR Macedonia during the period of 8-13 November 2009.
The visit is part of a regular series of consultations that enable the EBRD Directors to obtain up to date information on developments in the Bank’s countries of operation.
Representatives of the EBRD Board on this visit will include:
• Kurt Bayer, representing Austria, Israel, Cyprus, Malta, Kazakhstan and Bosnia & Herzegovina
• Anne Counihan, representing Ireland, Denmark, Lithuania and FYR Macedonia
• Gianluca Grandi, representing Italy
• Etsuro Honda, representing Japan
• Herbert Junk, representing Germany
• François Lefebvre, representing France
• Kalin Mitrev, representing Bulgaria, Poland and Albania
• Pedro Moriyon, representing Spain and Mexico
• Igor Podoliev, representing Ukraine, Romania, Moldova, Georgia and Armenia
During the visit to Albania, on 8-11 November, members of the EBRD delegation will meet the Albanian Finance Minister, Ridvan Bode, the First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Fatos Ibrahimi, the Minister of Transport, Sokol Oldashi, the Mayor of Tirana, Edi Rama, representatives of the business and local NGOs, as well as diplomatic community.
The purpose of the visit is to get an update on the priorities of the Albanian government on the expected role of the EBRD in the context of the forthcoming country strategy.
The EBRD delegation will arrive in FYR Macedonia on 11 November. Over the course of the two-day visit, EBRD directors will have meetings with the President of FYR Macedonia, Gjorgje Ivanov, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Deputy Prime Minister, Vladimir Pesevski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Zoran Stavreski, and Central Bank Governor Petar Gosev.
The EBRD directors will also hold meetings with representatives of local banks and business community and NGOs, as well as with representatives of international financial organisations and diplomatic community.
With committed investments of €545 million in Albania and more than €507 million in FYR Macedonia in more than 70 projects, the EBRD is one of the largest investors in the two countries.
