A delegation of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD arrives in Moscow on September 22 at the start of a eight-day visit during which they will visit two Russian regions and hold talks with Federal government and regional authorities, as well as business leaders and representatives of civil society.

The visit is part of a regular series of consultations and will enable the EBRD Directors to obtain up to date information on developments in what is the Bank’s largest country of operation.

Representatives of the Board on this visit will include:

Anne Counihan, representing Ireland, Denmark, Lithuania and FYR Macedonia

Virginia Gheorghiu, representing Romania, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia and Moldova

Sven Hegelund, representing Sweden, Iceland and Estonia

David Martinez Hornillos, representing Spain and Mexico

Elena Kotova, representing the Russian Federation, Belarus and Tajikistan

Kazuya Murakami, representing Japan

Simon Ray, representing the United Kingdom

Joachim Schwarzer, representing Germany

Hans Sprokkreeff, representing Netherlands and Mongolia

They will be accompanied by Alain Pilloux, EBRD Business Group Director for Russia, representing the Bank’s management.

The EBRD Board mission will visit Nizhny Novgorod in the central Volga district, as well as Krasnodar and Sochi in southern Russia before returning to Moscow on September 28 for a final round of high-level consultations.

Since the EBRD was founded in 1991, it has committed nearly €9 billion to Russia, including projects worth €1.9 billion signed in 2006.
