EBRD hosts regional seminar in Skopje

Private-sector development and regional integration of the financial sector

Ahead of its Annual Meeting in Belgrade on 22 and 23 May 2005, the EBRD is hosting the final of four regional seminars next week, this time focusing on private-sector development and regional integration of the financial sector in south-eastern Europe.

The seminar in Skopje will take place on 14 March and will be opened by EBRD President Jean Lemierre, Prime Minister Vlado Buckovski, and Nikos Efthymiadis, Chairman of the Business Advisory Council for south-eastern Europe. This will be followed by addresses from Minister of Finance and EBRD Governor Nikola Popovski, and Erhard Busek, Special Co-ordinator of the Stability Pact for south-eastern Europe. Journalists are invited to attend this opening session, which begins at 14:30hrs.

Ministers, representatives of the international community, business leaders and experts are expected to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the development of the private sector and regional integration of the financial sector in this region.

Previous EBRD regional seminars focused on the development of municipal infrastructure (Zagreb, November 2004), the transport sector (Sarajevo, December 2004) and energy (Tirana, February 2005).

In Skopje, following the opening session, the keynote speakers will hold a press conference on 14 March at 15:15hrs, at the Holiday Inn, V. Agilarski 2, 1000 Skopje.

If you would like to attend this event, please contact Aleksandra Arsik from the EBRD office in Skopje on +389 2 3297 800 or via email: ArsikA@ebrd.com by close of business on Thursday 11 March.
