EBRD hosts regional seminar in Skopje
Private-sector development and regional integration of the financial sector
Ahead of its Annual Meeting in Belgrade on 22 and 23 May 2005, the EBRD is
hosting the final of four regional seminars next week, this time focusing on
private-sector development and regional integration of the financial sector in
south-eastern Europe.
The seminar in Skopje will take place on 14 March and will be opened by EBRD
President Jean Lemierre, Prime Minister Vlado Buckovski, and Nikos
Efthymiadis, Chairman of the Business Advisory Council for south-eastern
Europe. This will be followed by addresses from Minister of Finance and EBRD
Governor Nikola Popovski, and Erhard Busek, Special Co-ordinator of the
Stability Pact for south-eastern Europe. Journalists are invited to attend
this opening session, which begins at 14:30hrs.
Ministers, representatives of the international community, business leaders
and experts are expected to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the
development of the private sector and regional integration of the financial
sector in this region.
Previous EBRD regional seminars focused on the development of municipal
infrastructure (Zagreb, November 2004), the transport sector (Sarajevo,
December 2004) and energy (Tirana, February 2005).
In Skopje, following the opening session, the keynote speakers will hold a
press conference on 14 March at 15:15hrs, at the Holiday Inn, V. Agilarski
2, 1000 Skopje.
