EBRD names new director for Serbia and Montenegro
Dragica Pilipovic-Chaffey replaces Henry Russell as head of Belgrade office
Dragica Pilipovic-Chaffey has been appointed Director for Serbia and Montenegro at the EBRD effective 1 March. Ms Pilipovic-Chaffey, who has been the Bank's Director for Russia since 1999, replaces Henry Russell, who became the new Deputy Director for Municipal and Environmental Infrastructure.
Ms Pilipovic-Chaffey had a distinguished three-year tenure as Director for Russia during which the Bank's annual Russian commitments rose from €217 million to a record high of €1.2 billion in 2002. Previously she was a Director in the Financial Institutions team in London.
First Vice President Noreen Doyle, said Ms Pilipovic-Chaffey brings to the Belgrade position an established track record, seniority and expertise in management, and experience in the Balkans region.
Ms Pilipovic-Chaffey, who holds dual Croatian and British citizenship, previously worked for the Ministry of Finance of the former Yugoslavia, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund before joining the EBRD in its founding year, 1991. She holds a Master's in Economics in the former Yugoslavia and an MBA from George Washington University in the United States.
To date, the EBRD has committed more than €365 million in 15 projects in Serbia and Montenegro, in sectors that range from banking to transport and energy efficiency to infrastructure.
