New EBRD regional managers appointed
Five new directors have been named to head regional banking teams of the EBRD, including a new Business Group Director who will head the Bank's business in Russia and Central Asia, which accounts for more than 30 per cent of the portfolio.
Hubert Pandza, who was Chief Executive of Deutsche Bank in Moscow heading operations in the Commonwealth of Independent States, has been named the EBRD Business Group Director for Russia and Central Asia, beginning 1 October, based in London. Dragica Pilipovic-Chaffey remains Director for Russia, based in Moscow.
Mr Pandza has been directly involved in Deutsche Bank's business in Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia since 1988. He brings to the EBRD a rich knowledge and long experience of the region. His fluency with the Russian language, investment environment and culture will help drive the Bank's ambitious objectives for its largest country of operations and some of its most challenging areas, said Noreen Doyle, First Vice President of the EBRD.
Masaru Honma has been appointed to Mr. Pandza's team as Director for Central Asia, based in London. Mr Honma's career has focused on the transition economies of the former Soviet bloc, working at the Japanese Finance Ministry, the Japanese embassy in Hungary, serving as adviser to the Polish Minister of Finance, and serving as Head of the Outreach Unit for Financial Sector Reform at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), advising a group of countries which included the Central Asian republics.
Other senior appointments at the EBRD include:

· Hildegard Gacek, leaves her post as Director for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova, to serve as Director for Romania.
