Financial results

EBRD investments in 2007 rose to €5.6 billion in 353 projects. The EBRD’s net profit was €1.9 billion in 2007.

Full year-end results are available in the Annual report.

EBRD's AAA/Aaa credit rating

The Bank's aim is to facilitate the economic transition and integration of eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States into open-market economies, however this also exposes the EBRD to a certain degree of credit risk and asset concentration. In order to balance this risk, the Bank has established conservative operational and lending guidelines, which is reflected in the EBRD’s AAA/Aaa credit rating. By maintaining prudent capital levels, a membership that is committed and a gearing ratio of 1:1 the EBRD offers its investors reliable investment.

Global Medium Term Note (GMTN) Programme

The EBRD issues the great majority of its bonds under its GMTN Programme. The GMTN Programme was established in 1992 as a shelf documentation vehicle to facilitate the issuance of EBRD debt instruments in a timely and efficient manner. The documentation is fully flexible and provides for a wide variety of new issuance currencies and structures, including bonds linked to equities and commodities. While there is a named group of dealers, the Programme is open to any market counterparty able to provide an attractive financing structure to the Bank.

EBRD, the investment of choice

The EBRD has established a reputation among investors for debt products that are flexible and suit the individual needs of investors. The Bank's funding activities on the capital markets are guided by investor focus; flexibility; innovation; and strong credit. Combined with long-term market relationships, this set of business principles makes the EBRD today's investment of choice.
