Jean Lemierre, President

Jean Lemierre took up his position as President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on 3 July 2000.

Mr Lemierre, born in June 1950, has had a long and distinguished career in international finance. As Director of the French Treasury from 1995, he served as a member of the European Monetary Committee from 1995 to 1998, and prior to taking up his position at the EBRD was Chairman of the European Economic and Financial Committee and Chairman of the Paris Club. Previously he had served as Head of France’s Internal Revenue Service, and Head of the Tax Policy Administration and as Head of the Private Office of the Minister of Economy and Finance.

Mr Lemierre is a graduate of Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Economy). He graduated from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration in 1976.
