Kurt Geiger, Business Group Director, Financial Institutions & Private Equity

Mr. Geiger has a distinguished career of more than 30 years in international banking, working with KfW, Chase and Midland Montagu (HSBC) in Frankfurt, New York, London and Hong Kong with assignments in corporate banking, risk management, corporate restructurings and investment banking. He left Chase in 1989 after 15 years as Managing Director of Chase Investment Bank Hong Kong to join Midland Montagu (HSBC) in London, where he had regional responsibilities for Midland’s European business. After the merger with HSBC, he became Managing Director, Head of International Midland PLC and was a member of the Management Committee. He has been with the EBRD since 1993.

Mr. Geiger is Austrian, holds a Doctorate in Law from Innsbruck University and a Masters Degree in International Finance from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. He speaks German, English, Spanish and French, is married and has 2 daughters.

During 1994 and 1996 he served as a Special Advisor to the Austrian Privatisation Agency (ÖIAG). He is a member of the Private Equity Advisory Board of Thunderbird University in Phoenix, Arizona and a Trustee of the charity SafeHands for Mothers.
