Alexander Auböck, Business Group Director,Cooperation Initiatives and Programmes
Alexander Auböck joined the EBRD on 1 August 1992, and is currently Business Group Director with the following responsibilities:
- Member of the team managing EBRD banking operations
- Strategies with respect to Cooperation Programmes
- Responsibility for Official Cofinancing Unit
- Management of initiatives in connection with the use of income for other purposes
- Policy Dialogue with international institutions including the EC and the EIB.
Mr. Auböck joint the EBRD as a Senior Project Manager in August 1992, after working at Girozentrale in Vienna and London, responsible for project and asset based finance. He became Senior Banker in 1994 and worked in various teams (Hungary, Power and Energy, Transport and Telecoms). In 2000, he was appointed Country Director for the Slovak Republic (based in Bratislava), with the addition of Hungary and Slovenia from 2004. In March 2006, he was appointed Business Group Director, Infrastructure and assumed his current position in October 2007.
An Austrian national, Mr Auböck graduated from the Wirtschaftsuniversitaet Vienna and holds a PhD in Economics. He was a guest student at the College of Commerce in St. Gallen, Switzerland, and at the George Washington University, Washington D.C.
