Preparation of the new EBRD Energy Operations Policy

In July 2006, a new Energy Operations Policy was approved by the Board of Directors. The document sets out the general, specific and operational role of the Bank in the energy sector and establishes the overall framework for the Bank's activities over the strategy period 2006-2010.

The policy succeeds the Energy Operations Policy approved by the Board on 21 March 2001, as well as the Natural Resources Policy approved on 23 March 1999.

Invitation to comment

Comments were invited during a period of 45 days. The draft Energy Operations Policy  (0.5Mb) was a basis on which to comment.

Public consultations

As part of a wide-reaching public consultation process to draft the policy, the EBRD held consultation workshops in London, Sofia and Moscow. The consultation workshops were organised with the help of EIR Development Partners.
